Warm Welcome & Hook

Speaking with confidence is not about perfect grammar or using big vocabulary. It’s about how you deliver your words. Think about this: when you hear a confident speaker, what do you notice first? Usually, it’s not the words themselves, but the way they are spoken.

3 Keys to Confident Speaking

1) Speed (Don’t Rush)

Confident speakers don’t race through their sentences. When you speak too fast, you sound nervous. Instead: pause, breathe, then continue.

Practice:

Say this line three times, each time slower and clearer:

“I believe I can do this.”

2) Posture & Body Language

The way you sit or stand changes your voice. If you slouch, your voice sounds weaker. If you sit or stand tall, shoulders relaxed, chin up slightly, your voice becomes stronger and clearer.

Try it now:
  1. Slouch and say: “I am ready to speak.”
  2. Sit or stand tall and say the same line.

Notice how your voice changes.

3) Tone & Energy

Confidence also comes from the way your voice sounds. If your tone is flat, people lose interest. If you add energy and vary your pitch, people listen.

Try this:
  1. Say: “Hello everyone, welcome.” with no energy.
  2. Now say it again with a smile and more energy.

The second one feels more confident and inviting.

Guided Confidence Practice

Repeat these phrases slowly, with good posture, and with energy:

  1. “I can do this.”
  2. “I have something important to say.”
  3. “People want to hear me.”

Stand up if you can, and notice how much stronger your voice feels when you add posture, speed control, and energy.

Confidence Quiz

  1. True or False: Speaking faster always makes you sound more confident.
  2. What can change your voice even if people can’t see you?
  3. What short phrase can you repeat to boost your confidence before speaking?
Show answers
  1. False. Rushing often sounds nervous; controlled pacing sounds confident.
  2. Posture/body position. It affects breath support, resonance, and clarity.
  3. “I can do this.” (or any short positive affirmation).

Wrap-Up

  • Slow down your speed.
  • Fix your posture.
  • Add energy to your tone.

Confidence is not something you wait for — it’s something you practice every time you speak.

Say it out loud: “I can speak with confidence.”
